The Yen Wulin Alaska Chinese School

Summer Culture Camp 2009

The ACA has run the Yen Wulin Alaska Chinese School since 1984. Our Chinese school is open to the public, and provides a nurturing environment for those who want to learn the Chinese language and culture. Our principal and staff are all volunteers, and tuition fees go toward facility rental, teaching supplies, and transportation costs.

We currently have over 80 students enrolled in 8 classes from Kindergarten to 12th grade, plus an adult class. Each class covers speaking and comprehension, as well as reading and writing in both traditional and simplified Chinese characters. We may also provide an adult English class for newcomers to learn basic conversational English and American culture on Friday night at the same time as Chinese School.

Current Academic Year

Classes are held at Northwood Elementary, 4807 Northwood Dr., Anchorage from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Fridays.

Please note that we accept new K-12 age students in the Fall Semester only. Due to our limited teaching resources, we will not open new entry level adult class this fall. The late registrations must be within the first month of classes. After that, we may accept students with some Mandarin skills on a case by case basis.
